All-Weather Pitch Opening
The first project under the Corner Capital Fund banner, the resurfacing of the All-Weather Pitch, has now been completed and the School hosted an official re-opening, with special guests Tom Carson and Alex Danson.
Tom - Oak '08 - plays hocket for Great Britain and England, making his debut in Belgium in June 2013. Together with two of his brothers, he played for Reading for a number of seasons. Alex is a double Olympic medalist, winning gold in Rio 2016 as part of the GB Field Hockey team.
The original All-Weather pitch was opened in 1999 and a new surface was long overdue. OWs, parents, pupils, guests and the Mayor of Wellington turned out in force to watch some student coaching sessions with Tom and Alex, an official opening and ribbon cutting followed by a celebrity match with pupils, past pupils and staff.
